Previously on Thoughts of a Mistress
I started my own publishing company (High Glitz Lounge)
My cousin told my secret (A broken bond) and to top it off my mother confronted me about Hunter (Camouflaged Truth)
***
“I can not believe that you would say something? That was completely fucked up and to Diane too. That's adding insult to injury.” I screamed at Rachel as she exited the taxi. I hadn't spoken to anyone about my mother's conversation. I'm felt so ashamed after we talked. But somewhere between the evening and the next morning my ashamed turned into raged. I became raged at the person that caused this. Grabbing my coat I ran outside my house. I was headed to her apartment when I realized that she would be opening her store soon. Jumping off the train, I grabbed a taxi and waited for Rachel outside her store.
The look of embarrassment and hurt sweep across her face. “Vic, I said I was sorry. It just came out.”
“That's a pitfall ass excuse. You have had men take care of you your entire adult life. Your recent target gave you the money to start this store. How could you of all people? Either our cousin's Janet or Tiffany I could understand but not you. You've always been so low key with everything. I guess you're low key with your shit but you don't give a damn about anybody else.”
“That's not fair. If your grown enough to have an affair then your grown enough to deal with the consequences.” Rachel screamed back at me as she unlocked the front door and we let ourselves inside away from the cold and strange stares.
“Yes, and I understand that. But it's not YOUR place to decide what MY consequences are. You should have kept your big ass mouth quiet. If YOU think that I'm going to continue to protect you from YOUR consequences then your wrong. Remember, we go back. This is my one and only secret that I've told you. Remember you slept with Tiffany now husband. You pissed the wrong one off.” I walked towards her store front door. “Oh and cousin, see you at the family reunion in a couple of months. I should be fun.” Feeling the cold New York winds as I stepped outside shaking my head I started walking up the block.
I could feel my cellphone buzzing in my pocket. I didn't want to look at it because it might be Rachel. But the buzzing continued. Reaching inside my pocket I looked at my phone I saw that it was Patrica, my attorney.
“Hey, I hope you can get to Philly tonight. There a couple of authors and sponsors that I want you to meet.”
Switching gears I started to focus on my publishing business. I finished my conversation with Patrica and told her that I would take the train to Philadelphia tonight. I couldn't let Hunter nor Rachel remain in my thoughts. I'm in this situation with Hunter because I wanted to and I deal with Hunter when I want to and now it's about business.
