If my cellphone could print out text messages based on my life it would probably give an accurate account. It's the only entity that knows my day to day life. The ups and the downs. The secrets. The dreams. My daily reality. A few day's ago my cellphone and myself found ourselves at a beautiful wedding in Mahwah, New Jersey. The bride and groom were friends of my date. My date: Tim Cox .
Standing on the dance floor with the other single women, we were waiting for the tradition toss of the bridal bouquet. All the other women had an advantage over me cause I was the only one holding my dear cellphone in my hand. Why? I really couldn't say. Maybe I was afraid of missing something or someone. All the single women were determined and ready to catch the bouquet. There facial expressions was the same as the men in the Superbowl. Determination. Tension was in the air. The women looked like they were in the last few seconds of the Superbowl, the score was tied and this was 4th and goal. They were ready. They were going to win. They wanted a ring.
As the boutquet was tossed in the air my cellphone buzzed and instead of focusing on the goal I decided to read my text message:
Hunter: I miss you
Looking down I smiled at my text but looking up I realized I missed the moment. The bouquet was caught by someone else. This moment will be gone forever. I couldn't get this moment back if I tried. Why did I miss it? Cause I focusing on the wrong thing, my cellphone. Walking off the dance floor I walked up to Tim who was waiting on the sidelines. Patience, sweet, sexy, understanding, the list can go on. Grabbing me by my waist and kissing me on the forehead, “Next time.” he said. The DJ began playing an slow old Motown song. Tim grabbed my hand to lead me to the dance floor. Walking to the dance floor I took a chance and put my cellphone on the table. As I was releasing it from my hand I felt the vibration of the phone. I looked at my cellphone and then at Tim.
Buzz... Buzz... What do I do?
Turning towards Tim, I embraced the moment. I knew I would never get this time back. Leaving behind the waited text message. I walked towards Tim on the dance floor and enjoyed the entire night. I didn't look at my cellphone again until I was alone in bed.
Feeling Tim's sensational kiss on my lips I read my text message:
Hunter: It feels so right being with you. See you soon.
Damn this is getting intense...
