Mistress Thougths #2 (I Love Hollywould)

Funny how certain things can trigger a memory. A smell or music can take the mind back to that perfect moment. Walking into my closet I saw several light blue shoe boxes. Smiling I grabbed the boxes gently hoping to keep them in there perfect condition. Opening the boxes and lining them along the wall I could smell the mixture of ALLURE perfume by Chanel. I mentally flashed back to my love of Hollywould shoes days and when I purchased my first pair.

Finally I did it. I purchased a pair of fabulous Hollywould shoes. Walking into the boutique store with light blue walls and spotting my shoes was enough to make my heart stop. They are the perfect color of red with a bow on the top. And of course they are 3 inches, no less. I knew that I would have to save up for these priceless treasures, but the end result was worth it.

A few weeks later my shoes arrived in the mail. My trusted, spending conscience friend, Terri was at my apartment when my gift arrived.

“How could you spend that much money on shoes?” She asked looking at the invoice with a mixture of disgust and heartache. “I would never spend almost four hundred dollars on shoes. It screams that you’re trying to impress people.”

I simply smiled and took my darling lovelies out of their box.

A few weeks later my Hollywould shoes had their chance to make an appearance at my cousin's store opening.

“Cuz, those shoes are saying something,” cried Rachel. “Sometime we ladies have to buy something for ourselves, no matter what the cost.”

Interesting, how a pair of shoes caused two different reactions from two different women. Each has their own self expressive mentalities.

What’s my self expressive mentality? The latter of the two opinions. My purpose was to treat myself with something that I’ve been wanting for a while. I worked very hard, sometimes over 60 hours a week. I'd been a fan of Holly Dunlap’s diary and always wanted a pair her shoes. It is never my goal to buy anything to impress people. I’ve out grown that.

Now Dolls save up (if need to be) and buy those shoes, bags, house, car or take that vacation. You deserve it.
